Rasayana - Branch of Ayurveda
Rasayana ( Rejuvination ) is the seventh branch of Ashtang Ayurveda.
Rasayana is a Sanskrit word that translates to “path of essence." The term is derived from the root words, rasa, meaning “essence,” and ayana meaning “path."means lengthening lifespans later it called Indian Alchemy.
In Ayurveda, rasayana refers to both the science of promoting longevity and the herbal remedies used to maintain optimal health as well as to reverse the effects of aging.
Rasayana therapy enriches rasa with nutrients to help one attain longevity,memory,intelligence,health,youthfulness, glowing body , brilliance ,enhance immunity,Strengthens the sense organs, Improves virility and vitality and it carries off toxins.
Types of Rasayana :- There are three types of rasayana
1 Naimittika Rasayana is helps to fight a specific cause responsible for disease in the body.
2 Ajasrika Rasayana is used to maintain good health and improve the quality of life through a healthy lifestyle, diet or exercise. It is also called Vayasthapan Rasayan.
3 Kamya Rasayana are the promoters of normal health. These boost body energy levels,immunity and general health.
Kamya Rasayana is four types
a ) Pramakamya is Promoter of Vitality and Longevity.Best quality of life energy.
b ) Medhakamya is Promoter of memory and intelligence.
c ) Ayushkamya is Promoter of increasing longevity.
d ) Chakshu Kamya for maintaining healthy eyes.
Rasayan Therapy offer in two ways
1 Kutipravashika :- Where patient stay in specially prepared room ( Kuti ) for
long period while taking various rasayana made of different herbs.
2 Vatatapika :- Where vata means air and atapa heat or sun it is for people who are engaged in everyday life activities. It is an outdoor treatment taking Rasayana while the person remains exposed to air and heat.
There are three methods of treatments
1 Achara Rasayana :- are positive thoughts that enhance health, happiness and longevity aimed for psychological and spiritual health.
2 Ahara Rasayana :- Diet relating to eating, types of food and their properties, etc
3 Aushada Rasyana :- includes specific herbs and their combinations to treat various ailments.
There are more than 150 Rasayana herbs and formulations mentioned in Ayurveda text books which have been clinically proven to be effective.

Chyawanprash is one of the best example of rasayana which is well known & widely used in India as a herbal immunity booster.Which is made up of 25 to 80 different herbs with pure ghee main ingredient is Amla - Indian gooseberry which is rich source of Vitamin C.
