There is a joy in grabbing and there is a joy in giving. Unless we move from the joy in grabbing to the joy in contributing, we cannot be satisfied. We cannot be happy because there will be an irritation inside us

Jijivisecchhatam Samah.

Now here there are two type of action. As I said, one, in which you want to gain something, even happiness from the action, you are mistaken- the result will be contrary to your expectation. Just act because you cannot be here without acting. Channel your energy in doing something or you sit and get restless. Restlessness is also an activity. If you do not channel your energy in some activity physically, mentally or emotionally, that same energy is going to turn inwards, and turn into restlessness, agitation, dejection in you. People who are engaged in any type of activity in society, not wanting anything in return feel much happier. It is like letting out the steam. Steam gets generated in the course of life and it needs to get channelized. Steam cam make food for someone. Steam can bring heating. It can do many things. In the same way our energy needs to be channelled doing something useful for others.

Again the mind will play a trick"OKAY, if I do this, what will I get from it?" There, wake up and see that the joy in getting is an immature joy. It is an infant joy, which we are all born with. Every Child is born with the joy to get something. If you leave a child, it will go and grab something. Kids live grabbing things but when they are 3 or 4 old, they love to give, they have a tendency to give something also. Have you noticed kids doing that? If you give them something in their hand they will go to Papa and Mumma saying "You take this". Nature has kept this tendency to give. When kids come home or when it is a birthday party, the grandmother makes various dishes. She enjoys serving. She enjoys giving. That's a mature joy. There is a joy in grabbing and there is a joy in giving. Unless we move from the joy in grabbing to the joy in contributing, we cannot be satisfied. We cannot be happy because there will be an irritation inside us. The irritation inside us is only because we are focused on grabbing. ....
