When you realize that everything is pain, then how do you go about? What do you do? You have to do something to stop this pain. What will you do?

🌹PATANJALI YOGA SUTRAS🌹

            🌀CHAPTER - 9🌀
~ Eliminating The Cause Of Pain ~

                🌀DAY - 71🌀

🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

The soul is not satisfied with the physical body coming close. It wants something more. It wants to merge. It wants to vanish and disappear. This is what is called love. In love, there are two expressions - the first is that one wants to disappear into the other, and the other is that one wants to eat the other so that he/she disappears. These are the two expressions that lovers say to each other. They do not know why they are saying. They are not cannibals! Does love make you a cannibal! Really, if that was possible, each one would do it, literally - gulp down their boyfriends or girlfriends. Then, there would be no more worry. They would not have to be bothered about who they are looking at and where they are going. Otherwise, the mind would be constantly engaged in checking. Lovers become watchdogs after a while. Often when they come to the course, they do not meditate. Their attention is over their boyfriends or girlfriends. And they have to be told to meditate without any worries; that, their boyfriends or girlfriends would be taken care of.

Love creates pain; a tremendous amount of pain and so does separation. A wish creates much pain and pressurizes the mind. And then trying to please somebody creates pain, and to know whether they are pleased or not pleased also creates pain. You want to totally know the mind of the other person. How is this possible? You do not even know your own mind. So, how can you know somebody else's mind? And it is impossible to know anybody's mind just by their words. They say the tongue has no bone, so it can just move in any way it wants. It has no value; no loyalty. It is not steady. It may say something one day and something totally opposite the next. You cannot trust your tongue even if you can trust anything in the world.

You feel good and joyful when you do what somebody else wishes. However, suddenly this feeling is not there. Now, doing what has given you joy becomes painful. It needs an effort to do spiritual practices and that is painful. If you don't do it, it is more painful. One day, you may not be feeling good and you attribute it to your not having meditated that day. Or, after you have meditated, you feel you have not done it long enough. And that is the reason you are not getting the good effects. You find something to complain about.

Sarvam evam dukham mayam. If you really look with the eyes of wisdom, you will find that there is not a bit in this creation, which is devoid of pain. Pain is the tail which comes along with everything in the world. If you do something, you will get a free coupon of pain with it.

The next sutra is about what you will do then? When you realize that everything is pain, then how do you go about? What do you do? You have to do something to stop this pain. What will you do?
