Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra- Meaning And Amazing Healing Benefits


Shiva is one of the principal deities of Hinduism. He is the Supreme Being, who creates, protects and transforms the universe. It is believed that Lord Shiva can be pleased easily and grants the boon to their devotees. Chanting mantra is one of the powerful ways to get connect with the divine and dedicate yourself to Lord Shiva. Mantras have psychological and spiritual powers and help us to bring harmony and peace to our life.
There are many mantras that are devoted to Lord Shiva and each mantra has its own set of benefits. Mahamrityunjaya mantra is one of them. It is one of the most significant mantras in Hinduism. Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is also known as the Tryambakam Mantra, is a verse of the Rigveda. It addresses the Rudra avatar of Lord Shiva. It is also a great death-conquering Mantra. According to Shiv Puran, when you have fear of any unknown event this chant helps you to overcome the fear.
Om Try-Ambakam Yajaamahe
Sugandhim Pusstti-Vardhanam
Urvaarukam-Iva Bandhanaan
Mrtyor-Mukssiiya Maa-[A]mrtaat ||
Meaning:
1: Om, We Worship the Tryambaka (the Three-Eyed One),
2: Who is Fragrant (as the Spiritual Essence), Increasing the Nourishment (of our Spiritual Core);
3: From these many Bondages (of Samsara) similar to Cucumbers (tied to their Creepers),
4: May I be Liberated from Death (Attachment to Perishable Things), So that I am not separated from the perception of Immortality (Immortal Essence pervading everywhere).
Here is the word by word meaning of the mantra
Aum- is a sacred/mystical syllable in Hinduism.
Tryambakam- the third-eyed one (accusative case)
Yajamahe- we worship, adore, honor.
Sugandhim- sweet fragrance, fragrant (accusative case)
Pusti- A well-nourished condition, thriving, prosperous, fullness of life
Vardhanam- one who nourishes, strengthens, cause to increase (in health, wealth, well-being), who gladdens, exhilarates and restores health, a good gardener
Urvarukam-iva- like the cucumber or melon (in the accusative case) or like a big peach
Bandhanan- bound down
Mrtyormuksiya – free, liberate from death 
It is performed for Longevity
It is performed on Birthday occasion
It is also done for Extending life time
It is performed to cure Chronic Illness and to promote a Healthy life
