Resting in the Space Before All Division
Before the first thought arises, there is a quiet openness. Nothing is split there, and nothing is missing.
Division begins only when the mind says "this" and "that." Before the words, there is simply being.
I rest in that space as a tired traveller rests in shade, without effort and without asking anything.
The silence between two breaths belongs to no one. It is wide enough to hold the whole world.
In the moment before a name is given to anything, the tree, the bird, and the sky are one presence.
I do not have to remove the divisions. I only have to notice what was there before they appeared.
Like still water before the first ripple, my awareness is whole and undisturbed.
Every thought rises from this space and returns to it. The space itself is never born and never lost.
When I rest here, I am no longer a part looking for the whole. I am the whole, resting.
Pause for a moment today, and feel the quiet openness that has always been holding you.
I am Resting in the space before all division, I am simply whole.
