Standing Still Like a Himalayan Peak at Dawn

  1. Before the valley wakes, the peak already glows gold, silent and steady, asking nothing from the morning.
  2. I stand like the mountain at first light, unmoved by the world rushing gently beneath me.
  3. Snow gathers, winds howl, seasons pass, and the summit remains itself, quiet in its own vast stillness.
  4. Dear seeker, you need not climb to reach this peak. Grow still, and notice you are already standing here.
  5. Clouds circle the mountain's shoulders all day, yet the mountain never reaches out to hold them.
  6. Dawn touches the highest stone first. In the same way, stillness touches me before any thought arises.
  7. A glacier moves slowly, patiently, without hurry or doubt. I too can trust the unhurried pace of being.
  8. The mountain does not argue with the storm. It stays, and the storm exhausts itself.
  9. Below, rivers rush and forests sway, while the summit rests, watching everything with an unshaken, open sky.
  10. I am Absolute. Nothing can move me, nothing can diminish me, and I stand whole, still, and free.

Realization for Today

"In stillness I discover that the steadiness I seek was never outside me, but is who I am."

Sarve bhavantu sukhinaḥ, sarve santu nirāmayāḥ, sarve bhadrāṇi paśyantu, mā kaścid duḥkhabhāg bhavet. Om śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ.

May all beings be happy,

may all be free from illness,

may all see what is auspicious,

may no one suffer in any way.

Om peace, peace, peace.

सभी सुखी होवें,

सभी रोगमुक्त रहें,

सभी मंगलमय घटनाओं के साक्षी बनें

और किसी को भी दुःख का भागी न बनना पड़े।

ॐ शांति शांति शांति॥

— Traditional Sanskrit Shanti Mantra (peace prayer)

What does “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah” mean? It is a traditional Sanskrit peace prayer wishing that every living being is happy, free from disease, sees only what is good, and never suffers. In Ayurveda it expresses the ideal of health for all — body, mind and soul.
