Work Done With Joy Is Never Tiring

Work Done With Joy Is Never Tiring

The river never tires of flowing toward the sea. It moves with joy, and that joy is its endless fuel.

The sun rises and the whole day awakens, yet the sun does no labor. Effortless energy simply radiates, and I am that source.

When I offer my work as worship, the hours drift by like clouds, light and unhurried, and nothing in me runs dry.

The bee hums from flower to flower all morning, and no one hears a complaint. Delight is its engine.

Tiredness comes not from action but from resistance, from wanting the work to be other than it is. I let the resisting go.

A child absorbed in play forgets the hour. I too can forget myself in the work and find energy already waiting there.

The wind carries seeds across mountains without fatigue. Energy was never mine to store; it moves through me freely.

Rest and action are two waves on the same ocean. In both, the Absolute Energy remains untouched, whole, and ever fresh.

I do what is before me with full attention and a quiet smile, and the effort becomes a kind of song.

The fire does not ask the wood for permission to burn brightly. I give myself fully, and the giving renews me.

When joy leads the work, there is no one left to tire.

Sarve bhavantu sukhinaḥ, sarve santu nirāmayāḥ, sarve bhadrāṇi paśyantu, mā kaścid duḥkhabhāg bhavet. Om śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ.

May all beings be happy,

may all be free from illness,

may all see what is auspicious,

may no one suffer in any way.

Om peace, peace, peace.

सभी सुखी होवें,

सभी रोगमुक्त रहें,

सभी मंगलमय घटनाओं के साक्षी बनें

और किसी को भी दुःख का भागी न बनना पड़े।

ॐ शांति शांति शांति॥

— Traditional Sanskrit Shanti Mantra (peace prayer)

What does “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah” mean? It is a traditional Sanskrit peace prayer wishing that every living being is happy, free from disease, sees only what is good, and never suffers. In Ayurveda it expresses the ideal of health for all — body, mind and soul.
