What is Ayurveda?

The Ancient Wisdom of Ayurveda.


Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of life,
A holistic approach to health, a way to thrive,
With roots in nature, and a focus on balance,
Ayurveda guides us to live in harmony, to enhance quality of life. 

The Meaning of Ayurveda.


The word "Ayurveda" comes from Sanskrit words "Ayur" and "Veda",
Meaning "life" and "knowledge" or "science", respectively,
Together, they form a term that represents the knowledge of life,
A science that explores the intricacies of human existence.

The Principles of Ayurveda.


Ayurveda is based on the concept of three doshas,
Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, which govern our physical and mental traits,
Each individual has a unique constitution, a prakriti,
Which determines their strengths, weaknesses, and health tendencies.


The Three Doshas.


Vata: The Air and Ether Dosha.

Vata is the dosha of movement, communication, and creativity,
Associated with the air and ether elements, it's light and dry,
People with a predominantly Vata constitution are often slender,
Active, and creative, but prone to anxiety and stress.

Pitta: The Fire and Water Dosha


Pitta is the dosha of transformation, metabolism, and digestion,
Associated with the fire and water elements, it's hot and sharp,
People with a predominantly Pitta constitution are often intelligent,
Passionate, and driven, but prone to anger and competition.

Kapha: The Earth and Water Dosha.


Kapha is the dosha of structure, stability, and nourishment,
Associated with the earth and water elements, it's heavy and calm,
People with a predominantly Kapha constitution are often sturdy,
Loyal, and calm, but prone to lethargy and attachment.

The Goals of Ayurveda.


Ayurveda aims to promote health, prevent disease,
And restore balance to the body, mind, and spirit, with ease,
Through a combination of diet, lifestyle, and therapies,
Ayurveda helps individuals achieve their full potential, and live in harmony.

The Benefits of Ayurveda.


Ayurveda offers numerous benefits, including improved health,
Increased energy, and a deeper understanding of oneself,
