AYURVEDA: The Path to Absolute — Series 1

“The body is made of earth and light; awareness is the space holding both.”

From Healing to Wholeness — from Nature to the Absolute.
Part I — PRAKRITI: THE NATURE OF BEING (Verses 1–55)

Balancing the Five Elements — discovering harmony as the foundation of consciousness.
Essence: “The world is the body of Awareness — balance is remembrance.”

🌸 Introduction: The Awakening of Balance

Ayurveda begins not in the body, but in Awareness itself.
Before there was disease or healing, before even life was named — there was Prakriti, the eternal harmony of the Five Great Elements (Panchamahabhuta).

In this natural order:
🌍 Earth (Prithvi) offers stability and form.
💧 Water (Apas) gives fluidity and connection.
🔥 Fire (Agni) brings transformation and intelligence.
🌬 Air (Vayu) moves and communicates.
☀️ Space (Akasha) contains all — the field of pure awareness.

The first verse of The Path to Absolute reminds us that our being is made of both earth and light, yet held eternally in awareness.
To remember this unity is the foundation of all healing.

🔥 Understanding the Verse

“The body is made of earth and light; awareness is the space holding both.”

This verse is more than poetry — it is the entire philosophy of Ayurveda and Advaita in one breath.

  • Earth symbolizes matter — the body, bones, muscles, food, and form.
  • Light (Agni) is the energy of digestion, perception, and consciousness — the inner sun that transforms experience.
  • Awareness (Akasha) is the silent witness, the infinite field in which both matter and light appear and dissolve.

When we identify only with the body, we experience limitation.
When we identify only with the light, we may forget the grounding of life.
But when we rest in awareness, we remember that both are sacred expressions of the same source.

In this remembrance, balance arises naturally.
Healing becomes effortless.

🪷 Ayurvedic Insight: The Science of Harmony

According to Ayurveda, true health (Svastha) means “to be established in the Self.”
This Self is the still awareness that watches the play of the elements without attachment.

Every imbalance — physical, emotional, or spiritual — begins when awareness identifies with a fragment of itself:

  • “I am my pain.”
  • “I am my stress.”
  • “I am separate.”

But the moment you remember, “I am Awareness holding both earth and light,” separation dissolves.
You are no longer a suffering in the world — you are Presence itself.

🌞 Daily Practice for Series 1: Living the Verse

🕊 Morning Meditation — “Awareness Holds All”

  1. Sit quietly upon waking.
  2. Feel the earth beneath you — stable, supportive.
  3. Feel the warmth within — your inner fire, gentle and alive.
  4. Bring awareness to your breath — the space that moves through you.
  5. Now silently repeat:
“The body is made of earth and light; awareness is the space holding both.”
  6. Sit in that awareness for 10–15 minutes.

🌼 Let thoughts arise and pass, as clouds floating in the vast sky of awareness.

🌬 Daily Pranayama — Balancing the Elements

Practice: Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing)
This gentle breathing technique balances the solar (fire) and lunar (earth/water) channels of energy.

Steps:

  1. Sit comfortably with spine straight.
  2. Close the right nostril with your thumb; inhale through the left.
  3. Close both nostrils; hold briefly (without strain).
  4. Open the right nostril; exhale slowly.
  5. Now inhale through the right nostril, hold, and exhale through the left.
  6. Continue for 7 rounds (about 5 minutes).

Benefits:

  • Harmonizes the nervous system.
  • Balances Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.
  • Deepens stillness and clarity before meditation.

Ayurveda teaches that healing is not something we add to ourselves — it is what naturally emerges when we stop resisting the flow of life.

“Be still — and the medicine of awareness will reveal itself.”

Every herb, every breath, every sunrise carries the vibration of balance.
Your only task is to listen.

🌼 Returning to the Space Within

This first verse of The Path to Absolute is not just the beginning — it is the seed of all healing.

When you see your body not as a burden but as a sacred meeting point of earth and light, you live in remembrance.
When awareness holds all opposites in peace, you have already found liberation.

🌿 “The healer, the healing, and the healed — all dissolve in awareness.”

This is Ayurveda beyond the clinic — Ayurveda as consciousness itself.
