Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) is a flowering plant native to northern Europe, Asia, and parts of North America.The roots, leaves, stems, and blossoms of the plant are all used in folk medicine to make tinctures, extracts, tonics, teas, powders, and essential oils.

It also has the strong aromatic fragrance from its leaves. Artemisia is also used as holy mint for cleansing purposes and appeasing the local deities. It is also used as a liver tonic; to promote circulation; and as a sedative. Other uses include treatment of hysteria, epilepsy, and convulsions in children.
