Nephrolepis cordifolia L

Nephrolepis cordifolia (L.) is terrestrial fern with short rhizome and small tubers. It is an epiphytic and epilithic plant, belonging to the family, Dryopteridaceae of the order, Filicales and commonly known as sword fern in English and Pani amla in Lotsham.

According to Pharma Innovation Journal, the tubers of this plant contains high amount of moisture, fat, carbohydrate and calcium whereas the protein content was high in the part of rhizome. Nephrolepis cordifolia plants are grown commonly as an ornamental fern in different parts of the world.
