HEALTH TIPS FOR MONSOON SEASON | Shashwat Ayurveda Clinic, Kalwa Thane


     Rains come as a big relief after hot summer season . But rains also bring along some common health problems every year . 
Do you know why ? 

Ayurveda has a answer to this , when rains start pouring over heated ground ; Vapors starts coming out from ground & as result of this phenomena ; our 3 doshas gets imbalanced in our body . Especially vata dosha gets vitialed in our body along with mild levels of pitta dosha . This imbalance of doshas causes -
1)Low digestive power .
2)Low immunity power
3)Weak body strength 
     . Due to which we suffer from common health problems like common cold , Recurrent viral or bacterial infections , gastroenteritis , Acute joint pain , spinal problems etc .
          Hence in monsoon , It is extremely important that we take utmost care of our body of prevent ourselves from suffering any illness . 
           Here are some easy to follow health tips for monsoon season : 

1) Due to low digestive power & vitiated vata in body, avoid having heavy to digest food , very spicy food or pungent of dry food .

2) In mansoon , you can have food made from old preserved grains , vegetable hot soups , chicken soup , hot gruel made from rice , Herbal tea made from ginger , rock salt , pepper to increase digestive fire .

3) Always add ghee or oil to your diet to prevent vitiating vata dosha , which may give problems like bloating , constipation, joint pain etc .

4) Having boiled water in mansoon is a must . Which will help you out in preventing water born diseases & also in maintaining a normal digestive power . 

5) Always prefer hot showers over cold showers as it will prevent vata imbalance . 

6) Always wear footwear outside as well as in house also .

7) Avoid getting all wet in mansoon & even if you get wet , you must dry yourself quickly .

8)Don’t wonder outside in sunny days in monsoon season also .

9) Also avoid post lunch afternoon naps in this season; as this interferes with digestion .

10) Take extra foot care in mansoon , especially diabetic people . Wash & dry your feet immediately after it gets wet to avoid problems like fungal infections , jocks itch . Apply combination of neem oil & sesame oil . Take extra care it you have cracked heel or any injury to your feet .

11) Dry your hair quickly if it gets wet . As in mansoon scalp skin can get easily affected by fungal infection .

12) Those who suffer from joint pain , arthritis, lumbar / cervical spondylitis, avoid sleeping on floor or sitting on cold surface or getting drenched in rain.

13) Avoids deep fried , spicy , preserved ,canned, pungent foods .

14)Ayurveda advices to do oil massage in rainy season daily or at least once a week before bath to prevent vitiating vata dosh .

15) Those who are prone to vata related problems like joint pains, dry,itchy skin, constipation, menstrual irregularity, pain in menses, recurrent gas problems etc; must do basti panchkarma to prevent vata from causing pain & severe problems in body .

Basti panchkarma is said to be best treatment for all vata related problems .
