Seed dispersal in Calotropis

🍁 Seed dispersal in Calotropis

✔ Seeds of the calotropis plant are easily dispersed by wind because of their light and hairy structure which help them to travel long distances and settle at a suitable place for germination.

✔ Wind dispersal (anemochory) is one of the more primitive means of dispersal found in many other plant species like Bombax ceiba, Ceiba pentrandra, Holoptelea integrifolia etc.

👉 Advantage:
The advantage of seed dispersal by wind is that the offspring can be transported a distance from the parent plant which will decrease competition between them.

It is a delight for small children, who like to blow it and watch it float in the air.
