The Monk's Odyssey
In Calcutta's heart, where Ganges' waters flow,
A Bengali family welcomed a child to grow,
On January 12, 1863, a day of destiny's call,
Swami Vivekananda was born, to stand tall.
His early years, a mix of curiosity and play,
Shaped his mind, and fueled his quest for the way,
He sought answers, to life's mysteries and might,
And found solace, in the teachings of the night.
Ramakrishna, the mystic, with a heart so pure and bright,
Took Vivekananda under his wing, and ignited his light,
The young monk's journey, began with fervor and zeal,
As he delved deep, into the world of spirituality's reveal.
With every breath, he absorbed the wisdom of the ages,
And spread the message, of Vedanta's sacred pages,
To the Western world, where hearts were open wide,
He introduced yoga, and the philosophies of the East, with pride.
At the Parliament of Religions, in Chicago's grand hall,
He stood tall, and proud, and gave his historic call,
For unity, and understanding, among nations and creeds,
And raised the status, of Hinduism, to its rightful deeds.
Through trials and tribulations, he walked the narrow path,
With courage and conviction, he overcame life's wrath,
His message of love, and service, echoed far and wide,
And inspired generations, to walk the spiritual tide.
Swami Vivekananda's legacy, lives on, a shining light,
Guiding us forward, through the darkness of night,
His quotes, a treasure trove, of wisdom and insight true,
Remind us to strive, for a life of purpose, and spirit anew.
Let us remember, this monk's remarkable life,
A testament to the power, of the human spirit's strife,
May his teachings, inspire us, to reach for the divine,
And may his legacy, forever be etched, in the annals of time.

कलकत्ता के दिल में, जहां गंगा की धारा बहती है,
