Enlightened action. It means that you have become so full. You have done what you had to do and you will do what you have to do.Having done, and doing what you have to, move with a smile; move joyfully, happily. Sukham chara. So now you rest happily!

Another name for enlightenment is कृतकृत्यः । Enlightened action. It means that you have become so full. You have done what you had to do and you will do what you have to do. See that action is a smooth, uninterrupted flow without hindrances. There is no more judging in the mind. It is not wondering if the right action is being done; not doubting if something wrong is being done. None of this confusion. The mind does not come in the way, continuously putting up obstacles. It sees the flow of action with a smile. Be with it, because there is no other intention deep below to rejoice or to find enjoyment out of that action. That action is happening from the source of joy, and not expecting joy or enjoyment from or as a result of it. That is कृतकृत्यः । You are here, you are very happy, and you are doing something as an expression of happiness. You paint, you sing, you dance, you water the plants, or look after the children. You do these as an expression of your Being. Sukham chara. And then alone you can move into happiness, move in happiness, and move happiness all around you.

King Janaka had so many responsibilities for the entire country and the welfare of all the people. Somewhere deep inside, he must have had some ambitions about changing the country, or making everybody happy, or about doing the ideal thing. This hankering, this one little thing could have been an obstruction for him to know his infinite capacity.

It is like a small grain of sand in the eye is enough to shut your vision of the infinity. You will be before a range of mountains, and stars, and sky, sun, and moon. And a small grain of sand in your eye obstruct your view of infinity.

Ashtavakra was pulling out all such things out of Janaka. "Move happily", he says. It's not the kind of attitude you have when you have nothing to do. It is not like you saying that you do not have to meditate or do anything. That you can just lie down, sleep, eat, or just sit around. That, there is nothing to do anyway. It is not that kind of attitude.

Sukham chara. Move happily and joyfully. You often find renunciates having dull and unhappy faces. Most of the sadhus are like this, very unhappy, dejected, disgusted and frustrated. Most nuns and priests put on a smile but if you look closely, you will see that they are so frustrated and dejected in life. They seem so gloomy! They put on dark clothes which makes them look even more gloomier! Laughing is a crime for them. If you laugh in their presence, it will be a big mistake. You need to always be very serious before them, give up your laughter and keep your face as grim as possible.

Drop everything in the right manner; not with the dejection or a feeling of frustration; not with a feeling or sense that nothing belongs to you and you are dropping everything and tuning away as this does not lead you anywhere. कृतकृत्यः सुखं चर ॥ Having done, and doing what you have to, move with a smile; move joyfully, happily. Sukham chara. So now you rest happily!
