Rechaka Pranayama improves elasticity of the lungs, removes excess mucus. A large volume of carbon dioxide is expelled, a larger volume of oxygen is absorbed. This pranayama is excellent exercise for the thoracic muscles, it helps keep the lungs healthy. Do remember to only breathe through your nose - keep your mouth closed.
