Solanum torvum (Common names: Turkey Berry, susumber, Bhurat, Bhankatiya etc.) - Solanaceae , is found throughout the world’s tropical regions, although it is native to Central America. The young fruits are edible after cooking. Whole plant is used as sedative, diuretic and stomachic. Fruit decoction is used to cure cough; useful in liver and spleen enlargement. Pounded roots are applied in cracks in the feet.

Medicinal uses- 
1. The combination of root & leaf juice is used to treat asthma, diabetes, hypertension.
2. The root juice is used to treat liver diseases, tuberculosis & as anti - anemic.
3. Fever, wounds, tooth decay, reproductive problems & arterial hypertension.
4. Anti-tumour, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory.
5. In China, it is used for blood stasis, menstruation, edema pain & coughs.
6. A decoction of fruit is given for cough ailments & is considered useful in cases of liver & spleen enlargement.
